Utilizing 3 ½ " squares of ultra suede, a small bag of copper seed beads to unify the project
and their own materials a group of beadwork artists with connections to the Keweenaw Peninsula have created twenty individual
pieces using bead appliqué, embellishment, and quilting techniques.
The project has been
grouped into seven individual matted and framed pieces. Each component of these pieces is one’s individual Interpretation
of the Keweenaw and a small masterpiece of beadwork art.
Working during the
early months of 2006 this group of artists logged hundreds of hours of tedious beadwork to create this group project.
It is their representation of life in Michigan's Keweenaw.
The
following pieces are being raffled off and tickets will be on sale all summer long through the Community Arts Center at 906-482-2333
or contact Peg at Silver Rae Studio.
The drawing will be held at the Symposium on Friday
Sept. 29, 2006.
